The Link - Advice

 

 

The Link provides completely independent advice and support from fully qualified advisers on a range of issues affecting students including finance, welfare, accommodation, immigration and much more. If we can't help a student with their problem we'll find someone who can.

David Bryan - Advice Manager

Experience

Dave has been involved with the advice sector for 19 years including 10 years with the Citizens Advice Bureau as a Money Adviser and Welfare Benefits and Tribunal Worker.  Dave was also a tutor for the National Association of Citizens Advice Bureau. Dave joined the Students’ Union in August 2000 and is now the Advice Manager in the The Link - Advice Service.

  • Office of Immigration Services trained for immigration advice
  • City and Guilds in Training the Trainer

Jane-Dowd

Jane Dowd - Secretary/Receptionist

Jane is the first contact person you will see when entering the Link - Advice Service.  She deals with a wide range of enquiries and gives out current information within the reception area and arranges appointments with the appropriate Adviser.

Experience

Jane joined the Students Union Advice Service in September 1997 and has over 20 years experience in secretarial/reception/tutoring business administration and IT within this time.

Carol-Harrison

Carol Harrison - Female Welfare Officer

Area of Expertise

Student Finance, Money advice, Welfare benefits, Accommodation, Immigration.

Experience

Carol has worked in Education looking after the welfare of students for over 20 years, including 12 years working at Cleveland College Art & Design as a Progress Tutor supporting students with all aspects of welfare issues.  Carol's working day includes student finance, accommodation issues, debt counselling and issues around students' general wellbeing.

Carol joined Teesside University Students' Union Advice Service in December 2002 as Female Welfare Adviser.
