Medieval Society

The Medieval Society is a 12th century living history group, focusing primarily on the events between the reign of Henry I and King John.

The Medieval Society brings history to life in a historically accurate, engaging and exciting way by working closely with English Heritage with events and educational visits which allow people to engage with history – seeing, feeling and hearing first-hand aspects of the lives and deaths of 12th century people – Knights, freemen, craftsmen, ladies of the court and Barons of the realm.

Members learn a variety of crafts such as wood work, leather work, shield wrighting, bowyery and drapery which we showcase at our events along with performing shire courts and Living History Displays around Britain and its castles.
