‘In 1862, on visiting Teesside, William Gladstone MP described what he saw as an infant - but an ‘Infant Hercules’ who would go on to build and connect the world. This ‘moniker’ is still proudly worn by Teessiders and provides the name for a local choir of men - who sing local rousing songs in nearby streets, town centres and Pubs. They are a wonderful, friendly group who use what they do to make people feel better and more connected to their community. On Thursday October 3rd, and in association with the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Law, the lads are hosting a walking, talking, musical tour of Middlesbrough for the students and staff of Teesside University.
A completely free event, it will provide you with a safe and sociable way to get to know fellow University colleagues and the wider community. A chance to learn a little, laugh a little and look at Middlesbrough through the eyes of it’s local people. No pre-booking needed - just arrive outside The Student Union Building for 6pm. The event will last until 9pm and take in some of the interesting parts of our town! Come as a group - or come alone - ‘You Shall Not Walk Alone’!’
