Priya Tew RD will be presenting a talk titled "Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS): How Diet Can Help?" during which she will cover essential topics, including the relationship between IBS and the gut-brain axis, stress, anxiety, first-line diet management strategies, and the increasingly popular FODMAP diet for symptom management.
Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) is a prevalent gut disorder affecting approximately 20% of the global population. It encompasses a range of symptoms, such as constipation, diarrhoea, stomach bloating, and gas. While the exact causes of IBS remain unclear, factors like lifestyle, emotions, diet, and genetics can trigger overactive nerves in the gut, leading to pain responses. Managing IBS symptoms can significantly impact an individual's daily life, including work attendance. Diet plays a crucial role in coping with IBS.
