The Postgraduate Society of Teesside University, in collaboration with Teesside local Section of the Royal Society of Chemistry, invites you to the lecture:
“Working at the Interface Between Academia & Industry - A Career Involving Catalysis”
by Dr David G Parker
Discoveries were made and lessons learned from the study of catalysis.
This lecture is for anyone who wants to learn from the experience of a scientist who has devoted five decades in industry (ICI) and academia.
No subject specific experience is necessary.
The presentation will cover David’s work with catalysis during his working
career.
Examples are taken from the laboratory to full industrial plant scale.
Both homogeneous and heterogeneous reactions are covered, and how in some
cases this led to significant commercial advantage.
Registration form - https://forms.office.com/e/0jQHLAcC6g
Date - Wednesday, 21st February 2024.
Time - Refreshments from 5 pm in the Stephenson Foyer, lecture starts from
5:30 pm until about 6:30 to 7 pm.
Venue - Stephenson Lecture Theatre SLT, Teesside University room no IC0.30.
David has had the pleasure of collaborating with many fellow scientists over the
years, in industry and academia and the talk will reflect the advantages of these
collaborations. We will also explore how this helped with career development
within and post ICI.
Although there are obvious technical aspects to the talk it should be regarded as
of general interest with no knowledge of the field of catalysis necessary.
